Welcome to Blogging, Karan Johar

Yay!!! India's favorite gossip queen (and most loved/hated director) Karan Johar launches his new blog, My Name is Karan. Whether you're a fan or not, one can't deny he seems to know what people want to talk about(and has a knack for getting it out of the celebs--see his Koffee with Karan episodes on Youtube)...As a matter of fact, he's a huge instigator. You know, like one of those kids who gets beat up on the playground because he talked too much...But, you know, I'm not even going to lie...I've watched almost every episode of his talk show!

His first post is basically a mini explanation of who he is and who he wants to be, as well as lightly touching on filmmaking decisions he has made. It's very brief and tries to cover a lot in a little space, but he's just getting warmed up...and at the end he makes his first official announcement that his next film stars Shahrukh and Kajol (insert cheer from fans across the globe--and me).

Karan also says he frequents blogs and other internet material to get a feel for what people do or don't like about his work and persona. Wonder if he'll ever stop here! Not likely, true, but you never know, right? ;)

Anyways, I expect lots of juicy Bollywood brain candy on his new blog!

By the way, Karan, if you're reading this, no disrespect in the above comment calling you a "gossip queen"...It's just that I have this image in my head of you on Koffee with Karan in that little armchair auctioning off your "coffee hamper" and trying to get Kareena Kapoor to slam Preity Zinta once again...and if the shoe fits...

I can't watch his show; I cringe at all the cattiness. (Of course, from what I've read of Indian entertainment reporting that seems to be the status quo, but I'm too American to enjoy it.) His blog looks like fun, though you can only post a comment if you use Firefox.

I have some reservations about how Karan uses his blog. Amitabh;s blog is excessively self-promoting, and while some of that is expected, I hope Karan doesnt go too far there. oh ajnabi- this comp im working on doesnt have firefox, but the comments thing wks. maybe he fixed it.

Ajnabi and Shweta,

I love his show, but can see how it may be too much for some--Hmm, maybe I'm the one who's a gossip queen! ;)

I think I'll go on and make a comment--I need to let Mr. Johar know that, although I'm stoked about the return of SRK-Kajol, he needs to give them some new names other than Rahul and Anjali.

I came across your blog trying to search a song that my dad has taken a liking to more than recently. I must say your blog is very impressive. It was so much fun reading and can't wait till you write the next one. I'll be happy to babysit your daughter while you write for us =]

Great stuff and good luck!

Zehra,

That's really sweet, thank you! And I'll keep that in mind ;)

Sita-ji--I'm so glad to have finally found something to show YOU! Considering if it wasn't for your fun and informative posts, I'd never have known about the Bollywood Cookbook, Amitabh and Aamir's blogs, and much more! :)

Ipshi,

Well, thank you! It's so nice to hear compliments, and I'm flattered that someone in the writing industry likes my little blog! I would love to come to Mumbai--it's one of my goals after I graduate nursing school. Although writing is my real passion, and would love to do this as my profession someday! You never know...:)

I am unable to understand why all the Indian actors push so much English while they are talking about the Hindi/Urdu movies. Their basis of being in show business are the movies in their language BUT they constantly speak in English. If Bollywood is putting out movies in Hindi, why don't they speak in their language to represent their industry and country. It is very sad that every Indian outside India cannot leave India BUT when the time comes to sacrifice for India they look the other way. Bollywood is trying to be so much like Hollywood ---- but they can't & never will--- Kawwa Chala Huns Ki Chal apni bhi bhul gaya

Karan, you seem to be a nice guy, but your show interview methods are very old and stupid. I watched few of your KWK shows on U-tube. I am sure that you can do a lot better as you have the ability and talent. As your buddy Rani Mukerjee says that "Karan is very promising" Of course you are but I highly suggest that you sit down and watch some of your shows and review it with a critical eye. I am sure that you will find the answer. Also, please STOP insulting the Actors especially the women when they come on your show. You get too personal - start talking about their dark color or bad nose etc which is very degrading for the actors and more so for YOU as you are trying to put them on the spot. Please do some thinking and IMPROVE ----
Take it as a constructive criticism. Good Luck - If I can be any help let me know.
